Points to note:

• Light lunch is available at local stores in Ham Tin. Participants may have lunch there on own cost, or bring your own food if preferred.
• It takes 3 hours for the return boat trip from Chek Kang to Sai Kung Pier, please consider if you are fine to take a long boat trip.
• The group will dismiss at Sai Kung Pier. No return shuttle will be arranged, participants can take taxi back to University or Shatin for around 20 mins.
• Participants should gauge whether your health conditions and fitness level is appropriate for the route.
• Pay attention to weather conditions. Hiking trip will be canceled in case of bad weather conditions.
• Wear appropriate gear and bring along extra clothing and supplies, such as hats, windbreakers, compasses, water, food, umbrellas, motion sickness medicine, etc.
• In the event of an emergency, note the number of the nearest distance post (e.g.,M001), and call 112 or 999 or use the nearest emergency telephone.

Cited by National Geographic as one of the world’s 20 dream trails, this trekking route known as the MacLehose Trail showcases the impressive coastline of the eastern peninsula in Sai Kung. Along the trail you’ll see sea caves, sea stacks, and hexagonal rock columns. Toward the end of the trail’s Sai Kung section, you can listen to the sound of breaking waves on the beautiful beaches.

We plan to hike the most popular, i.e., the most beautiful, section of the Maclehose trail in Sai Kung Country Park. It is 4KM long and 250M elevation. The majority of this trail is well-paved. So, a pair of sneakers would be fine. The hike will end at a pristine beach, from where we will take speedboat back to Sai Kung town center.

We will arrange buses running from the hotels to the start of the hiking trails. The return transportation from Sai Kung back to hotel will not be arranged. It is however very easy to get a taxi or public transportation to go back to Sha Tin (20 mins by taxi).
